Why We Love It

The AA Hotel Guide 2018 calls Langley a "magnificent 14th-century fortified castle" with "stylish" bedrooms

There is a 2-AA-Rosette restaurant, a drawing room and a cosy bar -- you may even spot the odd peacock in the castle grounds

The Daily Telegraph describes it as "the real deal: a 14th-century castle - all battlements and seven-foot thick walls", while the Manchester Evening News says it has an "abundance of historical intrigue and romance"

The hotel sits on a scenic road over the North Pennines around 10 minutes' drive from the pretty market town of Hexham

Sycamore Gap (often referred to as Robin Hood's Tree) and Housesteads Roman Fort, an English Heritage site on Hadrian's Wall, are less than 20 minutes' drive away

98% of Travelzoo members who reviewed their stay loved it, praising the "glorious setting", "amazing food", "excellent service" and "brilliant castle tour"
